UVMS Failover Client Applications

In the UVMS failover architecture, each UVMS client application (DUAS V6 and UVC) stores a list of all the UVMS nodes of the failover. The order of the nodes in the list will define which UVMS node will be contacted first by a UVMS client. In the failover architecture, the started UVMS become the first node of this list.

As a general rule, the UVMS client will try the first UVMS node in the list, then the second one if the first is unreachable and so on until it can connect to a UVMS node.

Univiewer Console

The list of UVMS nodes is loaded into UVC when opening a session on one node of the UVMS failover. The list is saved with the "Connection Parameters".

If the UVMS failover is installed, if the UVC connection to the UVMS specified by the user is not possible, UVC displays a message to the user containing the list of targeted addresses and reiterates its attempt to connect to other failover members in the order specified by the list.

If a connection has not been restored and the message is acknowledged, an icon (disconnected cable) appears in the status bar:

The connection is restored automatically as soon as possible and the icon disappears.

DUAS V6

The list of UVMS nodes is loaded into DUAS:

DUAS tries to contact the first UVMS of its list, if it does not, it tries the next one, etc.

Reporter

The UVMS node declared in the Reporter Node Settings>UVMS Settings is the Reporter reference node. Reporter extracts information from that UVMS node. This list is saved in the Reporter uvmsList.xml file.

The UVMS list is used to retrieve the list of nodes or node groups by type of extraction. Reporter retrieves its list of nodes/node groups from the first UVMS that responds.

As of version 6.10.41, documentation new updates are posted on the Broadcom Techdocs Portal.
